Gigantopithecus and human

The “tropical” and “temperate” forms of Gigantopithecus compared to a human.

Gigantopithecus is a genus of ape that is thought to be extinct.  It is believed to have existed from around 9 million years ago to as recently as 100,000 years ago. Weighing in at up to 1200 lbs with a height of almost 10 ft, these were the largest primates that ever lived. They roamed the earth in what is now China, India, and Vietnam. Could this be the fabled Bigfoot?

Very interesting. Can you imagine how strong these guys were! Sort of reminds me of Chewbacca, although these guys were a little bigger :)
